Always building for the future
At Mission, something is always being planned, built, renovated or demolished. It’s what we have to do to keep up with changing technology and standards – and with the ever-increasing numbers of people who come here for help.
Renovation or re-purposing is always considered first, and in many cases that’s the best solution. We’ve seen 50-year-old two-patient rooms in our oldest wing go through many uses, including a pediatric intensive care unit in the 80’s, and today, sleep rooms for on-call physicians. It’s a perfect use for them.
But most of the time, older facilities simply don’t have the space necessary to provide today’s services – and even if they did, up fitting them to accommodate today’s medical capabilities and improved design would cost far more than building from scratch.
So when you come to Mission, expect to see construction and renovation everywhere. We’ll do our best to keep things convenient for you – and we appreciate your understanding of why we are doing it.
