Mission Hospital Health Screenings

Knowing your risk for certain serious diseases and conditions before they occur can make all the difference in helping to prevent them. Regular screenings are an essential piece of your healthy life plan; they can help you know if you are at risk for diseases like breast cancer, heart disease, stroke and osteoporosis. Mission's health screenings can help you determine your risk for certain diseases and provide advice for managing them.

Know Your Numbers Health Screenings
Screening measures blood pressure, height and weight (to determine body mass index, or BMI), and performs a finger stick for fasting cholesterol levels and glucose. You'll receive a computer-generated report and consultation on your results.

Know Your Numbers screenings are available to the public at the following times and locations:

  • Heart Center Lobby of Mission Hospital, call 828-213-7000 for an appointment.
  • Reuter Family YMCA, Lab Day held every month. Call 828-213-9211 for lab dates.
  • Employers - Request an on-site health screening event for your employees. Call 828-213-9210 to request on site screening.

Bone Density Screenings
Appropriate for those who may be at risk for developing osteoporosis. You will receive your results and if results determine you are at risk for experiencing bone fractures, we will make a follow-up contact with your physician. Screening includes information about lifestyles that promote building and maintaining strong bones.

To schedule an appointment, call 828-213-2222, option 2.

Breast Cancer Screenings
You will learn how to perform a breast self-exam, discuss your breast cancer risk with a breast care professional, and learn how you can reduce risk for breast cancer.

For more information, call Denise Steuber at 828-213-1839, or Janet Magruder at 828- 213-0268.

Cardiovascular Testing - This includes the following options, based on your goals:
