Louis and Betty Jo Trantham

Louis and Betty Jo Trantham

Louis and Betty Jo Trantham are two people who make the lives of everyone they meet a little bit brighter.  The Tranthams are a loving and caring couple who have been together for more than 50 years.  They both stpent many years working hard to be able to provide a warm and comfortable place for their loved ones to call home.  Louis has been a builder all his life, and in his quiet, modest way he has helped build the lives of everyone he has met without desire for recognition.

Both Louis and Betty Jo express gratitude for the priviledge of being raised in loving homes, and they have made sure their family has always known the value of love and sharing.  Yet their spirit of generosity extends well beyond their family circle.  Betty Jo began volunteering at Mission Hospital over 24 years ago and continues to be a valuable hospital volunteer.  She serves on the Volunteer Leadership Committee, and because of her sunny disposition, it's easy to see why Betty Jo "has never met a stranger".  You can find this out firsthand by visiting the Memorial Campus Gift Shop on Thursdays.  The Tranthams are very active in their local church and are always ready to jump in whenever a need arises.

Last summer, when Mission Foundation sent information to all volunteers about the excellent investment values of gift annuities, the Tranthams decided to learn more.  After meeting with Foundation representatives as well as their financial advisors, they decided to make a charitable investment.  They determined that the proceeds from their gift annuity would be added to the Gold Medal Endowment at Mission Children's Hospital.  They have said how pleased they are to have amade sucha a decision, especially in light of the current economic uncertanties.  They will receive a guaranteed payment from their gift annuity throughout both of their lifetimes, and at a significantly higher rate than most investments are paying today.

Despite their modesty about the many gifts they so generously share with Mission Hospital and their community, the Tranthams are happy to let others know of their decision to establish a gift annuity in hopes that more people will be inspired to give.  Their generous gift will help provide children with lifesaving care as well as help make it possible for Mission to continue providing top-quality healthcare to the people of Western North Carolina for years to come.
