Where Are We Now?
Since its founding in 1994, Mission Children's Hospital has steadfastly pursued one goal: to provide the children of Western North Carolina with advanced pediatric healthcare in a family-centered environment close to home.
As the region's only children's hospital, we are ready to care for the wide range of health needs of the estimated 300,000 children in our area.
The Need for Endowments
Endowments are necessary to both maintain and expand the current level of care and meet the needs of all pediatric patients in our region. That's why in 1996, the Gold Medal Endowment - our general Mission Children's Hospital endowment fund -- was established to provide Mission Children's Hospital with a permanent source of income. Our aim is to grow the endowment to provide an annual $2.5 million to sustain our many programs, services and facilities for generations to come.
Today we have a family of Mission Children's Hospital endowments, and the Gold Medal is one of them. It is the general fund to secure the children's hospital's future, and others have been designed for those interested in endowing a specific program.

- Charles D. Owen ‘Arts for Life' Endowment ~ providing art and music therapy programming for children
- Children's Asthma and Diabetes Camp Endowment ~ enabling children to have an educational and enriching camp experience
- Gold Medal General Endowment ~ supporting all aspects of Mission Children's Hospital
- Huff Center for Child Development Endowment ~ expanding services for children with developmental challenges
- Neonatal ICU Nurse Education Endowment ~ enhancing neonatal care through staff education
- Pet Therapy Endowment ~ensuring continuity of Pet Therapy for children
- William Randolph Hearst Outpatient Services Endowment ~ promoting pediatric outreach services
- Zeis Children's Cancer Endowment ~ strengthening pediatric cancer services
