Mission Hospital Sleep Center

How are you sleeping?  To wake up refreshed and alert after a good night's sleep is one of life's greatest pleasures.  However, an astonishing 46 million people are affected by sleep disorders.  What's more, their condition often remains undiagnosed.  This can result in more than just feeling groggy - poor work performance, driving accidents, relationship problems, and mood problems like anger and depression can result from lack of sleep.

A good night's sleep starts here.
The good news is that most sleep disorders can be diagnosed and treated, and serious complications may be prevented.  If you or a loved one are not sleeping well, your doctor may recommend a sleep study, or polysomnography, at Mission's Sleep Center.  A referral is not neccessary but may be required for some services; as always share any symptoms or concerns with your primary care provider.

For more information on the Mission Sleep Center call 828-213-4670 or fill out our Online Pre-Screening Form and a Sleep Center Representative will contact you about your concerns.

Information on Mission Sleep Center:

  • Initial Evaluation - You'll be asked to answer some questions about your sleep patterns and undergo a physical exam at the Sleep Center. This helps us determine the best course of action for your treatment and diagnosis.

  • The Sleep Study - A sleep study involves an overnight stay where certain bodily functions are monitored including brain waves, muscle tension, eye movement, respiration, blood oxygen levels, and audio monitoring. Conducted in a relaxing, hotel-like atmosphere, the test is painless and covered by most medical insurance plans.

  • Sleep Disorders and Treatment- Mission's Sleep Center is dedicated to diagnosing and treating almost all kinds of sleep disorders including Circadian Rhythm Disorders, Insomnia, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Parasomnia, Narcolepsy, and Restless Legs Syndrome.

  • Sleep Apnea is one of the most common kinds of sleep disorders. People suffering from sleep apnea may experience a variety of symptoms including excessive daytime sleepiness, morning or night headaches, episodes of not breathing, loud snoring, restless tossing and turning, high blood pressure, and nighttime choking or gasping spells. Treatment can range from lifestyle changes to nasal surgery to correct the condition.
