Having a child diagnosed with a congenital heart disease can be difficult for a child and his or her family. For the child, it may mean moderating or limiting some activities. For parents, learning that your child has a cardiac disease can be difficult enough, but it also often means that a parent may need to care for the child in the home. Cardiac diseases can have a wide range of affects from moderate to severe and many children live a long, healthy, normal life.
Mission Children's Hospital can help ease the fears and concerns of new and seasoned parents, with the only pediatric heart center in Western North Carolina, providing cardiac care along the entire spectrum from fetus to adult. Mission also has the only fetal cardiology program, congenital CT or MRI program, and accredited pediatric echo lab in Western North Carolina.
