Mission's Stroke Center is accredited by Joint Commission as a certified stroke center. Located on Mission's Memorial Campus, the center provides fast response and expert treatment for stroke.
IF YOU OR SOMEBODY CLOSE TO YOU IS HAVING SYMPTOMS OF STROKE, CALL 911.
EVERY MINUTE COUNTS.
Our Stroke Center follows standards set by the Stroke Belt Consortium and works in conjunction with the National Stroke Association Stroke Center Network.
We treat more than 700 people a year for stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA). Our Stroke Center covers everything from prevention, through treatment during the acute phase of a stroke, to planning for rehabilitation.
Mission's Stroke Center offers:
- Community education and stroke risk screening to help people:
- Learn how to prevent stroke
- Recognize the early signs and symptoms of stroke.
- Know to call 911 immediately if a stroke is suspected.
- A "Code Stroke" protocol and team in our emergency department. This means that every person with signs or symptoms of stroke is immediately evaluated by EMS first responders and then by our Emergency physicians and stroke team to see if he or she meets the clinical criteria for using new treatments and stroke drugs.
- A designated Stroke Unit expressly for the care of people recovering after stroke
